INSHORE – This week Black Drum are swimming the surf in addition to some Sea Mullet (Kingfish, Southern) and Puffers (Puffer, Smooth). Inshore the Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Drum (Drum, Black & Drum, Red) continue to bite.

nearshore the spanish mackerel have show back up in numbers with some nice sized schools in albacore mixed in, and some schooling king mackerel too. with the north east winds will just get the bite even better! inshore we are seeing a lot of bait moving around with nice reds and trout feeding on them.

Generally speaking, the best time to fish from a pier is either early morning or sundown. This is when moving tides attract a lot of baitfish to the area, which in turn, brings out the big and hungry of the fish world, too.

Piers/Beach

Pier fishing has seen good results despite the warm weather. Anglers targeting Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish in Emerald Isle beaches/piers have reported good numbers of fish being caught. Notable catches of King Mackerel and Sheepshead have been reported off of Bogue Inlet Pier.

Crappie, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, catfish, trout, stripers, and hybrids are all biting in various bodies of water. On most, it's best to get out there early.
